Happy Birthday Mosiac Tile Card - Free Card making lesson
June 5th 2008 06:06
This Birthday Card uses small ceramic mosiac tiles as it's focal point. A card that is as suitable for males as it is females.
Materials required
1. 4 small ceramic mosiac tiles, approx 1cm x 1cm each.
I used craft tiles manufactured by Arbee (www.arbee.com.au)
2. Happy birthday stamp
I used a stamp made by Stamping Up! from their "Birthday Whimsy" set.
3. Stamping ink pads in 2 or 3 different shades of blue (light, medium and dark blue).
4. Small sponge
5. Dark blue square of card - 4cm x 4cm
6. Light blue square of card - 5cm x 5cm
7. Medium blue square of card - 6cm x 6cm
8. White square of card - 8cm x 8cm
9. White card 21cm x 15cm, scored and folded in half to make a greeting card.
10. Double sided tape
11. Glue spots or craft glue
Instructions
1. Using the sponge, collect some ink from the darkest blue ink pad and sponge it around the outside of the front of the greeting card (see picture below)
Then stamp "happy birthday" randomly over the front of the card.
Hint - place a piece of scrap paper behind the card so that you can stamp the happy birthday off the edges of the card which will improve the look.
2. Take the medium blue square (6cm x 6cm) and line it up with the squares on either your craft mat or on a piece of graph paper (this will make it much easier to line up your pieces of card).
Adhere the light blue square (5cm x 5cm) on top of the medium blue square (positioning as shown below) , using double-sided tape.
Adhere the dark blue square (4cm x 4cm) on top of these two (positioning as shown below) using double-sided tape.
Using the glue-spots (or craft glue) position and adhere the four tiles on top of these (positioning as shown below).
Take the white square card (8cm x 8cm) and sponge the edges using the same ink as was used around the edge of the greeting card. Then adhere the tiles (assembled above) onto this using double-sided tape. See below for positioning.
3. Adhere the tiles to the greeting card. See picture below for positioning.
