Lady Silhouette Craft - Free Card Making Lesson

April 22nd 2008 13:33
This look of this elegant card depends on the papers that you use - so experiment with colours and textures to find the look that you want.
The silhoutte is created by layering three shaped pieces of paper on top of each other.

Completed Silhouette Lady Card

Materials Required

1. Black card measuring 21cm x 15 cm.
2. Three pieces of differently paper. I used cream, red and green. Textured and patterned papers work well.
3. Paper glue
4. Scissors
5. Light box (optional)
6. Punch wheel (optional)
7. DThin double-sided tape (optional)

Instructions

1. Print out the template (below).
Hint - You may choose to print the template onto coloured paper, so read step 2 before printing it out.

2. Copy the three images on the template each onto a different coloured paper.
Make sure that your markings are on the BACK of the paper you are using.
I used a light box (see picture below) to copy the images onto my chosen paper. If you do not have a light box, you could use tracing paper, carbon paper, or, you could print out the template image three times, onto each of your different coloured papers (remembering to print it onto the BACK of your paper).

3. Carefully cut out the shapes. The facial features and hands will be clearest if you make sure that you cut carefully on the line. When you have finished cutting, turn the pieces of paper over.

4. Fold your black card in half. Then glue the first (red) piece of paper to the card.
The pieces of paper must be glued in the right order for the image to appear.

5. Now paste the second (cream) piece on top of the red piece. Position it as shown.

6. Paste the final (green) piece of paper on the top. Position it as shown to create the image.

7. Cut a strip of coloured paper (I used red) approx 0.5cm wide and at least 16 cm long, to create a paper ribbon. Using a punch wheel (optional), mark the sides of the ribbon.

8. Glue down the paper ribbon along the edge of the card (see picture for placement). You can use either double-sided tape or the paper glue. Trim the ribbon to the edge of the card.
