HOW TO USE PUNCHES:
2. Make the ten decorative squares for the card.
SQUARE 1
Punch a square from silver paper using 17mm square punch
Punch a circle from black paper using circle 3/4 " punch and adhere it off-centre onto the silver square.
Punch a 1/18" hole where the centre of the circle would be, and insert a silver brad.
Trim the circle to the edges of the silver square.
Adhere in the centre of a black backing square (made above)

Adhere a 1cm x 1cm square self-adhesive Rhinestone to the centre.

SQUARE 6
Punch a 17mm square from black paper and a 3/4" circle from silver paper.
Adhere the circle off-centre onto the square (approximately 3/4 of the way across the square).
Punch a 1/18" hole in the centre of the circle and insert a black brad.
Trim the circle to the edges of the squre.
Adhere to a silver backing square.
NB: If the prongs of the brad go over the edges of the square, they can be trimmed using plier cutters.
SQUARE 7
Punch a 17mm square from silver paper.
Punch a 1/18" hold in the centre
Insert a silver decorative brad.
Adhere to a black backing square.
NB: The pictured brad was made using a plain silver square brad, and covering it with rub-on scraps from ruined rub-ons I had left over.
SQUARE 8
Punch a 17mm square from black paper.
Punch a spiral into silver paper.
Position the 3/4" circle punch centrally over the punched out spiral, and punch it out.
Adhere onto the black square using roller glue.
Trim the edges of the circle to the square.

SQUARE 9
Punch a 17mm square from black paper.

SQUARE 10
Punch a 17mm square from silver paper.
Punch a 1/18" hole in the centre and insert a large round black brad.
Adhere to a black backing square.
3. Make the Centre piece for the card.
Punch out the letters required to spell "happy birthday" from black paper.
Adhere thick (I used 18mm) DSST to the table by turning the ends over. Do not remove the backing tape.
Adhere the letters to the DSST - Start by adhering "BIRTHDAY" first on the bottom half, and then adhere "HAPPY" above it with the H starting approximately above the I in BIRTHDAY.
Cut the piece of DSST so that there is approximately 1/2 cm of tape at each end of the "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" .
Cover the tape in silver microbeads.
Remove the backing tape and carefully adhere to black cardboard.
(NB: alternative way to do this is to adhere the tape to the black cardboard before covering it in microbeads)
Trim around the happy birthday, leaving an even margin of approximately 5mm on each side.
Adhere this onto silver paper and trim again with an even margin on each side (approximately 3mm).
4. Put the card together.
Adhere "Happy birthday" into the centre of the base card. Measure!!! it must be central or your card will look lop-sided.
Arrange the 10 squares on the card in the order you would like them
Use a ruler to help you align the squares evenly as you adhere them down.
