Fairy Card #2

This cute fairy card will delight all fairy fans. Simple and easy to make.
Materials Required
1. Small piece of skin-coloured card.
2. Scissors
3. Piece of patterned ribbon, approx 3.5cm long and 1.5cm wide.
4. Thin black marker
5. Texta's - pink, dark yellow
6. Purple Embroidery Cotton - approx 40cm length
7. White Card approx 12.0cm x 10.0 cm
8. Paper glue
9. Fairy wings - eg. sequins, glittery paper (see below)
10. Piece of white card measuring 15cm x 21cm
11. Piece of purple card measuring 13.5cm x 9.0cm (I used textured paper for better effect)
12. Piece of pink paper measuring approx 12cm x 10 cm. (I used a piece of recycled wrapping paper which was very fibrous.)
13. Double-sided tape
Instructions
First Make a Fairy
1. Draw a circle of diameter 1.5cm on skin-coloured card, and cut out the circle shape.
Hint - I used a silver sequin of that diameter to trace around.
2. Cut a piece of ribbon 3.5cm long. Using scissors, trim it to a triangle shape.
Hint - Mark a point at one end of the ribbon half-way across the ribbon's width. Draw an imaginary line from each of the two corners of the opposite end of the ribbon to this point. Cut along these two imaginary lines.
Draw a face on the small circle shape that was cut out in step one, using a thin black marker and a pink texta.
3. Make hair for the fairy using the embroidery cotton. Fold the cotton into 5cm lengths (approx 7 times), and using a 5cm length of the same cotton, tie a knot in middle of the lengths (tying them together). Cut the loops at the ends of the folds.
4. Using glue or double-sided tape, stick the ribbon body and fairy face down onto the piece of white card.
5. Using a dark yellow texta, draw in the fairies arms and legs. Glue down your chosen wings onto the fairy.
Hint - I used wing shaped sequins from a pack of mixed sequins. You could cut out wings from any glittery paper, see-through papers work well. If you have trouble drawiing your own wings, use the template given below. You could print it directly onto the paper you would like to use, or onto plain paper and transfer the image with tracing paper or carbon paper, or using a light box.

6. Glue the hair down on the fairy.

Putting the Card Together
1. Fold the piece of white card in half. Using double-sided tape, stick the piece of purple paper centrally onto the front of the white card.
2. Roughly tear the edges of the pink paper to an irregular shape, and then use double-sided tape to stick it on top of the purple rectangle as shown.
3. Trim the edges of the piece of card with the fairy on it, to a rectangular shape with a margin of approx 0.5cm around the fairy. Using double sided tape, stick the fairy onto the card.
