Easter Choc Eggs
If you have made the easter basket from my earlier posting (click here to see the easter basket post), you can fill it with these delicious choc treats.
They are easy to make and kids love eating the fruits of their labour!
Notes on the recipe for Parents:
1. The Milk Arrowroot Biscuits (Arnotts brand), can be replaced with another plain sweet biscuit eg Marie biscuits.
2. The milk is sweetened condensed milk.
3. The coconut is dessicated cocout - that is the dried coconut that has been shredded to look like sprinkles.
4. Crushing the biscuits:
-You may prefer to prepare the crushed biscuits in advance.
-The crushed biscuits should look like bread crumbs.
-The biscuits can be crushed in several different ways:
*You can crush the biscuits in a food processor.
*You can lay several (approx 4) biscuits on a cutting board and crush them using a rolling pin. The crushed biscuits can be scraped into your bowl with a knife, and then the next batch of biscuits are crushed.
*You can put some biscuits (approx 8) into a large zip lock bag. Expel the air and zip it shut. Lay the bag on a cutting board and then crush the biscuits using a rolling pin. When the biscuits are crushed, unzip the bag, pour them into your bowl, and then do the next batch. (This way saves on washing up and crumbly messes!).
5. Pre-cut small squares of foil to wrap the eggs in. Alternately, you could roll the finished balls in more coconut.
6. Best stored in the fridge (unless they are going to be eaten soon).
