Dump Truck Card - Free Card making Lesson
June 1st 2008 10:36
This card will delight small boys - the wheels go around, and the dump truck actually tips it's load.
Materials Required
1. Pale Blue card - 21cm x 15cm, scored and folded in half to make a gretting card.
2. Cork sheet - approx 15cm x 6cm
3. Red card - approx 12cm x 5cm
4. Dark Blue Card - approx 10cm x 4cm
5. Brown Card - approx 10cm x 5 cm
6. Black Card approx 6cm x 3cm
7. Two large circle brown brads (split pins) - or other colour if desired
8. One small eyelet
9. Eyelet setting set
10.Craft knife
11. Double-sided tape
12. Punch Wheel (optional)
13. Circle Hole Punch (approx 2.5cm diameter circle)
Instructions
1. Print out the templates below.
You can either print them onto plain paper and copy the designs onto the coloured card, OR print them straight onto the coloured card. I have put each on a separate template so you can do this.

2. Cut along the top of the piece of cork to make it slightly wavy (see picture).
3. Use double-sided tape to adhere the cork to the bottom of the light blue card.
(NB: the fold of the card is at the top). See picture below.
4. Cut out the dump truck, it's tipper and it's load using scissors and / or a craft knife.
5. Adhere the load to the back of the tipper using double-sided tape.
6. Set an eyelet (see picture below for positioning) to hold the tipper onto the dump truck. Don't set it too tight or the tipper will not be able to move freely.
7. Use double-sided tape to adhere the dump truck body (not the tipper) to the card. See picture below for positioning.
8. Punch the two wheels out of black card.
Hint - If you do not have a punch, you could use a compass to draw two circles of diameter approx 2.5cm and cut them out by hand.
If you have a punch wheel, mark around the outside of the wheels. Then use the punch from the eyelet setting kit to punch a small hole in the middle of each wheel.
9. Using the picture below, work out the placement of the wheels on the truck, and punch holes through the card ready to attach the wheels with split pins.
Hint - make sure you only punch through the front layer of the card.
10. Attach the wheels using the split pins.
