Embossed Bead Cards

November 5th 2008 03:35
Card Making Beads UTEE embossing enamel craft
Card displaying a tile that has a bead pattern in embossing enamel

The tile that is central in this card was made by covering the tile with double-sided sticking paper, and then adhering a bead pattern to the tile. (Note - glass heat resistant beads are required). Silver embossing powder was then sprinkled over the tile, adhering to the areas of the sticky paper that were not covered with beads. The excess was shaken off and the embossing powder was heat set. While it was still hot and melted, Clear UTEE (Ultra thick embossing enamel - equivalent is Opals "Franklin" embossing enamel) was poured over the tile. The excess shaken off and then this was again heat set. The process of adding the UTEE to the hot, melted embossing enamel was repeated a furthur two times. This firmly set the beads onto the tile in a clear enamel surface.

The tile was then arranged onto the card with decoration, as shown.

Stamp used : Small Dragonfly 1760C by STAMP-IT
Ink Used: Versamark Ink Pad
Paper edged using a punch wheel.

Fairy Card #3

November 4th 2008 02:15
A cute fairy card that will delight all fairy fans. Simple and easy to make.

Fairy Card Craft
Pink and Yellow Fairy

Materials Required

1. Small piece of skin-coloured card.
2. Scissors
3. Piece of patterned ribbon, approx 3.5cm long and 1.5cm wide.
4. Thin black marker
5. Texta's - pink, dark yellow
6. Embroidery Cotton - approx 40cm length - colour of your choice. eg Pink, Purple, Brown, Yellow
7. White Card approx 10cm x 8 cm
8. Paper glue (and double-sided tape - optional)
9. Fairy wings - eg. sequins, glittery paper (see below)
10. White card, measuring 15cm x 21cm
11. Strip of pink patterned paper measuring approx 3cm x 15 cm.
12. A piece of yellow web paper measuring approx 13cm x 10cm (If you do not have web paper, use other yellow paper, preferable see-through)
13. Double-sided tape.

Instructions

First Make a Fairy

1. Draw a circle of diameter 1.5cm on skin-coloured card, and cut out the circle shape.
Hint - I used a silver sequin of that diameter to trace around.

2. Cut a piece of ribbon 3.5cm long. Using scissors, trim it to a triangle shape.
Hint - Mark a point at one end of the ribbon half-way across the ribbon's width. Draw an imaginary line from each of the two corners of the opposite end of the ribbon to this point. Cut along these two imaginary lines.

Draw a face on the small circle shape that was cut out in step one, using a thin black marker and a pink texta.

3. Make hair for the fairy using the embroidery cotton. Fold the cotton into 5cm lengths (approx 7 times), and using a 5cm length of the same cotton, tie a knot in middle of the lengths (tying them together). Cut the loops at the ends of the folds.

4. Using glue or double-sided tape, stick the ribbon body and fairy face down onto the piece of white card.

5. Using a dark yellow texta, draw in the fairies arms and legs. Glue down your chosen wings onto the fairy.

Hint - I used wing shaped sequins from a pack of mixed sequins. You could cut out wings from any glittery paper, see-through papers work well. If you have trouble drawiing your own wings, use the template given below. You could print it directly onto the paper you would like to use, or onto plain paper and transfer the image with tracing paper or carbon paper, or using a light box.

6. Glue the hair down on the fairy.

Here are three fairy examples...

Putting the Card Together

1. Trim your fairy to a rectangular shape, so that there is approximately 0.5cm border of card around the fairy.

2. Fold the piece of 21cm x 15 cm card in half. Using double-sided tape, stick the piece of pink paper across the centre of the card (see below). Trim the edges flush with the card.

3. Tear the edges of the yellow web paper to roughen them, then using double-sided tape, attach it the the back of the fairy.

4. Using double-sided tape, stick the fairy onto the card.

These two cards were made using bleach to stamp an image onto paper, and later stamping the same image over again, using coloured ink. Using different papers textures and colours creates different effects
