Beaded Bookmarks
These bookmarks look good, work well and make great presents. Best of all they are simple to make!
Great for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas and Birthday Presents!!!
Materials Required:
1. Four large crimp beads
2. Beads of your choice - NB: The hole in the beads must be larger than the thickness of your chosen thread, but smaller than the squashed crimp bead.
3. Thread 40cm long (I used jewellery twine 1mm diameter). Leather, imitation leather and other types of thread will also work well.
4. Flat nosed pliers. (Other pliers can be used but the flat nose ensures you don't leave obvious dents in the crimp beads when you squash them)
Instructions
1. Thread one crimp bead onto your thread.
2. Squash the crimp bead right near the end of the thread
3. Thread on your chosen beads for ONE end of the bookmark, THEN add one more crimp bead.
4. Push the beads up tight against the first crimp bead and squash the second crimp bead in place.
5. On the other end of the bookmark thread first one crimp bead, then your chosen beads for the second end of the bookmark, and then another crimp bead.
6. After checking the length of your bookmark (try getting an average sized book and seeing if your bookmark fits easily - cut the thread shorter if it is too long), squash the crimp bead onto the thread right near the end.
7.Push up your other beads against this crimp bead, and squash the second crimp bead into place.
Finished Bookmark
If you are making the bookmark as a present, why not package it to make is look professional?
