2. The Engine.

Colour in the Engine.
Using the craft knife, cut out the window.
Glue a picture or photo behind the window. I used pictures cut out of junk mail catalogues, but magazines, old calendars etc can all be used.

Hint - I made one of these trains using family photo's, with my 2 year old son in the engine as the driver - he loved it.

3. The Coach.

Colour in the coach.
Using the craft knife, cut out the windows.
Glue pictures behind the windows.
Cut the left hand side of the picture so that the edge is level with the edge of the buffer (see picture). This is so you can layer this picture onto the engine picture and "join" the buffers.

4. The Truck

Colour in the truck.
Using the craft knife, make a slit along the mid section of the top of the truck (approx 15 cm long).
Insert a picture (eg of an animal, thing such as wood logs, person - I used sunflowers in my example) through the slit - this will make the load appear to be sitting in the truck. Glue (or tape) the picture in place.
Cut the left hand side of the picture so that the edge is level with the edge of the buffer (see picture). This is so you can layer this picture onto the coach picture and "join" the buffers.

5. Join the train together by layeriing the coach on to the engine, and the truck onto the coach. See picture below.

6. Trim the top and bottom edges of your picture to make them level.

Digger Card Birthday Free Instructions
Digger Card without Happy Birthday - for general use

Materials Required

1. Light blue card measuring 21cm x 15cm. Scored and folded in half to form a greeting card.
2. Piece of dark brown card measuring approx 16cm x 6 cm
3. Piece of textured brown card measuring approx 4cm x 4cm (or a size suitable for a printer if you wish to print off the template for the digger's load)
4. Piece of bright yellow card suitable for the printer (or any other colour you prefer for the digger)
5. Piece of black card measuring approx 10cm x 10cm
6. Two yellow (or other preferred colour) split pins (also called brads).
7. One small yellow eyelet
8. Eyelet setting kit
9. Double-sided tape
10. Happy Birthday stamp (I used the "happy birthday" stamp from the Stampin Up! "Birthday Whimsy" set).
11. Black ink pad
12. Scissors and craft knife

Instructions

1. Print the template below onto the yellow card.
Remember to print the image onto the BACK surface of the card that you are using.

2. Then cut out the digger's body and bucket, remembering to cut out the windows as well.

3. Lay the piece of brown card (16cm x 6cm) horizontally, and on the reverse side, draw a wavy line across the top, approx 0-1.5 cm from the edge (see image below). Cut along the wavy line

4. Print out the digger load template onto the textured brown card, (or draw your own to fit into the bucket). Cut out the image.

5. Cut out two black circles for the wheels. I used the Friskars Shape Cutter system, circles-1. I used the 1.00" and 1.50" circles.
If you do not have one of these, you could use a compass to draw the two circles and cut them by hand (Make the diameters approx 4cm and 2.5cm). If you have circle punches of appropriate sizes, you could use these as well.

6. Use the double-sided tape to adhere the wavy-topped card to the bottom of the blue card (The fold of the card is at the top) See image below. Trim the edges of the brown card flush with the edge of the blue card.

7. Use double-sided tape to adhere the brown digger load to the back of the yellow bucket. (See picture below)

8. Use double-sided tape to adhere the digger body onto the cared. See picture below for positioning.

9. Position and fix the yellow eyelet so that it holds the digger's bucket onto the body. See picture below for positioning. Try not to make the eyelet too tight, so that the digger's bucket will be able to move freely up and down.

10. If you have a punch wheel, mark around the edge of the wheels.

11. Place the wheels onto the body of the digger and work out their positioning. The BOTTOM of both wheels should sit on the same horizontal level. See picture below for positioning, Punch a hole in the centre of each wheel, and through the front layer of the card also (you will need to make sure the card is laid out flat to do this).

12. Position the yellow split pins (brads) through the wheel holes.

13. If you would like "Happy Birthday" stamped on your card you can either stamp the words straight onto the card (as below), or follow step 14.

14. Stamp the "happy birthday" words onto a piece of brown card. Trim neatly around it so there is a small border of brown around the words. Cut a piece of yellow card so that it is approximately 4mm longer and wider than your brown piece. Use double-sided tape to attach the brown piece onto the yellow, with an even border around it. Then attach this onto the card, positioning as shown below.

Materials Required

1. Alphabet stamps - I used "petshop alphas" Clear Stamps by the Paper Studio. (Or other background stamp of your choice)
2. Strip of silver card measuring approx 3cm wide and 17cm long.
3. Piece of wide ribbon (approx 6 cm wide), approx 17cm long. Colour of your choice
4. Piece of card measuring 21cm x 15 cm (ie a piece of A4 halved). Scored and folded to make a standard size card. Colour of your choice - matching your colour scheme.
5. A piece of thick card approx 10cm x 10 cm. You need to be able to cut the card with scissors. I used card I recycled from the back of a writing pad.
6. Double-sided sticking tape
7. PVA white glue
8. Mixed beads - style and colours of your choice
9. Silver paint pen.
10 Versamark ink pad
11. Scissors

Instructions

2. Cut out a baby hand.
Trace around the hand template onto the piece of thick card.
Cut out the hand, and then colour the top side of it completely with the silver paint pen. Don't forget to do the side edges of the hand.

Depending on which way over you turn the hand to paint you will get a left or right hand for your card.

3. Lay the hand on a piece of scrap paper and cover it almost to the edges with a layer of PVA glue. Arrange your chosen beads onto the glue. Once you are happy, put it aside to dry.
Hint - I have found that a random arrangement of a few types of beads that differ in shades of colour (but within one colour scheme), style, shape and size look best. However, make sure that there are several of each type of bead onthe hand. Also make sure that the hand is covered, and that no large gaps are left. You may include clear, silver or white beads in any colour scheme.

4. While the glue is drying, get the rest of the card ready.
Firstly, using the versamark ink pad, randomly stamp your chosen background stamp over the front of the card. Place the card on a piece of scrap paper, so that you can stamp over the edges for a more complete look. I used my alphabet stamps to make the words "It's a boy" for the blue cards, and "Baby Girl" for the pink card.

5. Attach the wide ribbon vertically to the centre of the card, overlapping it from the ends of the card. These will be trimmed later.
Hint - Use double-sided tape, but if you use see-through ribbon like I have, make sure that you place the tape in the central part of the ribbon where the strip of silver paper will hide it, otherwise it well be seen through the ribbon and spoil the final appearance of your card.

6. If you would like to, run a punch wheel down each side of the strip of silver paper. Place the cork board underneath for best results. This adds a stiched appearance to the edges of the silver paper strip.

7. Adhere the strip of silver paper to the centre of the large ribbon, overlapping the edges again. Trim the edges of the ribbon and paper to level to the card edges.

8. Once the glue is dry, adhere the beaded hand onto the card, over the ribbon.
